Brin's Cottage Now Closed

On 4th November 2011, Brin's Cottage was sold and is no longer available for visits.

We would like to thank all visitors over the past 50 years for their support.

We hope that the cottage will give as much pleasure to the new owners as it has to Guilding in Buxton.

Brin's Cottage To Close

After much deliberation and careful consideration, we have concluded that Brin's Cottage no longer provides the intended benefits to Girlguiding in Buxton. The Committee has therefore arrived at the difficult decision to sell Brin’s Cottage.

All bookings already confirmed will be honoured but we will not accept any new bookings for dates after 30th June 2011.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our many guests for their support over the last 50 years, especially those who have returned several times. There will be many fond memories of Brin’s Cottage and we are pleased that so many people have been able to enjoy the experience of staying there.

Welcome to Brin's Cottage (formerly Buxton Ranger Cottage)

In late 2006 the cottage was renamed Brin's Cottage in honour of Marjorie Brindley (Brin) who found the cottage and was the driving force behind it's purchase, restoration and opening for the benefit of the Buxton Rangers.

On this website you can find out how to book, the activities around the cottage and the history of the cottage.

History

This is a 17th century dwelling, owned by Girlguiding Buxton Districts.

The cottage was bought in 1961 by the Buxton Rangers, the money to purchase the property was raised from a grant from the King George Fund and the County Youth Service plus regular money raising activities, such as Coffee mornings, jumble Sales and with the help of donations from kind friends, paid for the materials used in repairs and decorations.
